What Is TroopsDirect?
TroopsDirect supports our front line troops exclusively at Company and Battalion levels with the objective of making them the healthiest, most energized and highest spirited Marines, soldiers, aircrew and sailors that we can. We function as a non-profit ‘back line’ of supply for Afghanistan based units. We communicate with the front lines daily and provide -in bulk- detailed hygiene, nutrition, gear and K9 support.

Contrary to most groups providing smaller and seasonal care packages for individual soldiers, TroopsDirect ships over ½ ton every week in cartons manufactured to our exacting specifications which are then packed to approximately 50 lbs each. Furthermore, TroopsDirect support is the most timely, accurate and adaptable amongst known support organizations. Supported by the contributions of citizens like you, TroopsDirect is a registered 501c3 tax exempt organization with the core of our proceeds going directly to supplying our service members.

TroopsDirect believes that if one additional energy bar makes a Lance Corporal more alert as he faces a threat or the sprinkle of powder in his boots makes a Gunnery Sergeant more surefooted, then we are also doing our part to ensure their safe return home to friends, family and especially their parents.

The TroopsDirect Story:
It started with a simple care package to a long time friend, fellow USC Trojan and Marines Corps Captain deployed to Afghanistan. His email of thanks not only expressed his gratitude but also the need for him to share the contents of my package with the other Marines under his command. It was then that I realized that there were thousands of service members on the front lines who would benefit from an ongoing supply of hygiene, nutrition and gear; essential staples that would keep them healthy, sharp and motivated.

So my quest began with the goal of giving our frontline servicemembers anything and everything I could possibly muster. The difference however was that I wasn’t going to do it one soldier at a time in shoe box sized packages but rather at unprecedented levels. I would ship to entire Companies and Battalions in bulk. For the uninitiated, that is upwards of 1000 servicemembers that I’d support in a single shipment. Furthermore, I was going to take the guesswork out of the process and communicate directly with the front lines in order to ship items that they specifically needed. With that, I reached out to my friends and neighbors and also to the corporate contacts that I've made through my 15 years as a business executive. In a matter of days, support for this mission was received with the energy of a tsunami and TroopsDirect was born.

Soon after, the gauge for measuring TroopsDirect’s support went from ‘boxes and pounds’ to ‘pallets and tons’. In the following months, a (very) high ranking military official stated that TroopsDirect was a game changer for his units and that an organization such as ours comes around once in the military’s generation. Hearing those words, we knew we were doing something right.
